We’re thrilled to announce that Kevin Ring, one of the nation’s foremost experts on the experience mod, has officially joined Emerge Apps as our Chief Experience Mod Officer (CXO).
Kevin will continue his leadership role as Lead Workers' Comp Analyst of the Institute of WorkComp Professionals (IWCP) while partnering with us to bring next-level mod strategy and support to Emerge Apps customers. He’s here to help our agents elevate their comp game through personalized guidance, fresh insights, and real-world strategies that turn technical knowledge into client wins.
Kevin’s journey into workers’ comp wasn’t traditional. He started his career in IT, where his logical brain and knack for systems gave him a deep appreciation for things that just work—like computers… or mod sheets.
Life took a meaningful turn when he met and married Amanda Diamond (yes, her legal name is now Amanda DiamondRing). Amanda’s father, Preston Diamond, was the founder of the Institute of WorkComp Professionals—where Kevin was first introduced to the exciting work of insurance.
Kevin initially joined the Institute to support IT systems, but it wasn’t long before he caught the bug. His “nerdy” brain was drawn to the structure and objectivity of the experience mod—it was like fixing a computer, but with far more real-world impact. He earned his insurance license, immersed himself in comp education, and began helping agents analyze mod worksheets. Over time, he became a go-to mod authority, known for helping agents through even the most complex cases (including a 76-page mod worksheet) with clarity, patience, and sharp strategic insight.
Kevin describes his approach to mod analysis like this:
“When I look at a mod worksheet, I feel like I have x-ray vision. I can see everything that’s not on the page—an absent or ineffective return-to-work program, potentially misreported claims, how a particular claim is quietly driving up the mod, and more.”
That kind of insight is what makes Kevin so valuable to agents. He doesn't just explain what a mod is—he teaches agents how to uncover what it means, what it reveals, and how to use it to stand apart in competitive sales situations.
He’s especially passionate about challenging the common belief that “comp is comp.” Many employers and agents assume there’s nothing you can do to influence workers’ comp premiums—but Kevin knows that couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, comp is the most controllable line of coverage when it comes to impacting premiums, without changing the core benefits of the policy.
And the payoff isn’t just financial. The real-world impact is what excites him most: fewer injuries, faster recoveries, stronger companies, and workplaces where people are safer and more supported.
Kevin has been a close collaborator with Emerge Apps for years, helping shape the vision behind ModSure and our Mod Performance Suite. Now, as our official CXO, he’s lending his expertise to everything we do—bringing strategic insight to software development, education, and client support.
